“Filming begins next month”, says game site
I found this article in Gamespot summarizing a licensing deal video game company Red Mile Entertainment got to produce games based on the Sin City universe.
In that same article, the writer states that filming is set to begin next month on A Dame To Kill For. A link in that report (which goes to Filmspot) reveals what they think is the release date: January 29, 2008. So far this is the only source I’ve seen with a specific release date (even IMDB only shows 2008).
A gander over at Red Mile’s press release makes it seem like the licensing deal was done with Frank Miller directly, not Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studio nor Miramax. If Miller himself did strike the deal, I can only assume he’ll be involved in some capacity, as that was the only way he had originally agreed to have the Sin City movie made in the first place.

good research on the RD, i remember when it was Dec of 07, but one month is not a big deal i guess.
Look, it’s january 1st now and no news on sin city 2 since may. what kind of fan site is this?
Ok first of all IMDB is now reporting that the RUMORED new cast to the movie is Rachael Weiz, Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp. Once again RUMORED. These actors don’t even have characters assigned to them yet.
2nd the movie is listed as pre-production and not stated to be due till year 2009. There isn’t even a trailer of it out yet so it might not even be out till 2010.
3rd Ava hit the nail on the head: its now February 13th and there hasn’t been an update on here for almost a year…some fan site.
